The global recession triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic is darkening the automotive sector’s short- and medium-term outlook given the prospect of steep declines in demand in North America and developing countries in 2020 in addition to Europe and China.

Guangrao Tire Exhibition (GRTAE) postponed
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in order to protect the health of exhibitors, visitors and partners the 11th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (referred to as China GRTAE 2020), which was originally scheduled to be held at Guangrao International Expo Center, Shandong from 15-17 May has been rescheduled for 8-10 September 2020.

Yokohama U.S. plants to remain closed ‘until further notice
Yokohama idled operations at its West Point, Miss., truck tire plant on March 27 and at its car/light truck tire plant in Salem, Va., on April 5.
Yokohama said it initiated the controlled shutdowns to help stem the spread of COVID-19. Several “preventive measures” also are in effect at all company facilities
